What Is the Interview Process at TrueCare?

As a health care professional, you have dedicated your life to helping others, whether it’s helping people heal with your support and kindness or using your medical expertise to save lives. However, in the current health care system, it can be challenging to find a health center that allows you to focus on providing the personalized and affordable care your patients need. There are still health centers that allow you to prioritize serving your community.

If you are interested in joining a team of like-minded and compassionate professionals who are dedicated to providing essential services to those who need them—including communities that are too often underserved and individuals experiencing homelessness—TrueCare is the place for you. Still, getting a job is not as simple as sending an application, so we are here to help you navigate the process. You might be wondering, what is the interview process at TrueCare? Let’s get into it!

What Is the Interview Process at TrueCare?

Remember that this is a general overview – this process may not be indicative of your experience. Everyone’s experience is different depending on their circumstances, like the role you are applying for. Whether you are applying for medical assistant roles, a medical receptionist position, or a specialized therapist position, our goal is a transparent and nurturing experience. The interview process at TrueCare is typically 6 steps long:

  1. Submit Your Application
  2. Interview Request
  3. Screening Interview
  4. A Series of In-person/Video Interviews
  5. Job Offer
  6. Celebrate Getting Your Dream Job!

Here’s what to know about each stage of this process.

1. Submit Your Application

The interview process at TrueCare starts with an application. Once you apply through our site or through one of our job posting partners, expect your application to be reviewed within 48 hours, though this timeline is subject to change depending on the number of applicants.

This, however, is because we believe you deserve to have real-life humans reviewing your application – not AI tools! Please make sure all information and dates on your application are accurate, as we will verify this during the offer stage.

2. Interview Request

After reviewing your application, we will be in touch. If you are a good fit for our health center, you will receive a request from the recruiter to schedule an interview. This invite will be accompanied by a calendar link to schedule the interview at your convenience. We have many health center locations across the region, and we work to find the best fit for your commute and patient needs.

3. Screening Interview

The next part of the interview process at TrueCare is a phone screening interview! You will speak with a recruiter for about 30 to 45 minutes and discuss your experience, your resume, and total comp expectations.

“An important part of this step is asking you questions around culture fit because it’s really important that we maintain the culture we have at TrueCare,” said Becky Sanchez, the Talent Acquisition Director at TrueCare. We will also discuss everything that we bring to the table at True Care, including our comprehensive benefits and compensation packages.

4. A Series of Interviews

After the phone screening, you will have another interview with the Hiring Manager. This stage varies depending on the role you are applying for. These interviews can be on-site at one of our locations or a virtual interview (video call), depending on the location and team.

If you advance to the next stage, you may have another interview with members of the team, which may involve a group panel interview or a one-on-one interview with senior leadership.

5. Job Offer

After interviewing, if you have been identified as a finalist, the recruiter will typically talk through expectations with you again. If you are still interested, our team will work to create an offer that we hope excites you. We want you to feel empowered to grow your career with us. We will then give you a call and give you a verbal offer. If you accept, we will send a written letter. From there, we initiate your background check, physical, and drug test, and tie up some loose ends on the back end.

6. Celebrate Getting Your Dream Job!

Congratulations – you have the job! We can’t wait to work with you. This stage is, of course, the most fun. Celebrate with your loved ones because you have secured a job at a health center that does meaningful work and makes a true difference in people’s lives.

Frequently Asked Questions about Interviews

Navigating a career move is a big step, and we want you to feel empowered throughout your journey with our nonprofit organization. Here are some of the most common questions our Talent Acquisition team receives:

  • How long does the process typically take? We aim to review applications within 48 hours, but the full journey from phone screening to job offer can vary.
  • What should I expect for a Director-level interview? For leadership roles, such as a Director of Talent Management or clinical leads, the process often includes a group panel interview or a presentation to showcase your strategic vision.
  • Do all roles require a skills test? Certain positions, like medical assistant roles or medical receptionist roles, may include a brief skills test.
  • Is there a CEO level interview? For executive-level leadership, a one-on-one interview with our CEO may be a final step.

Interview Experience Sharing

At TrueCare, we value transparency. Many current TrueCare employees have shared their interview experience on platforms like Glassdoor, providing insights and advice for future teammates. We maintain a high difficulty rating because we are committed to finding the best talent for our patients, but our team consistently earns praise for being “accommodating and mission-driven.”

Candidates often highlight the value of anonymous sharing in our culture—we want you to be your authentic self from the first virtual interview to your first day at the health center. The best advice from those who have been through the process? “Come prepared to talk about why you are passionate about community health care.”

Types of Interview Questions

To help you prepare, we’ve broken down the types of inquiries you might encounter. Whether you are in a phone interview or an on-site one on one interview, we focus on both technical expertise and behavioral alignment with our core values.

  • Behavioral Questions: We might ask, “Can you share a time you went above and beyond for a patient?” This helps us see if you possess the “heart for service” we look for in every medical assistant, therapist, and support team member.
  • Role-Specific Technical Questions: If you are applying for a therapist position, we may discuss specific modalities.
  • The “Human” Element: Our Director of Talent Management emphasizes that we hire for heart as much as for a background check and drug test.
