What Has Your Career Journey Been Like at TrueCare?
Moises Valenzuela’s journey at TrueCare is a testament to both personal and professional growth. Starting in 2017 as a Registered Dental Assistant at the San Marcos location, Moises’s commitment to accessible healthcare quickly propelled him through the ranks.
“I actually started as a registered dental assistant,” explained Moises. “Initially, I just wanted to make sure I could help people in whatever capacity I could, and because dentistry was something that’s not always affordable for people and can be very expensive, I wanted to provide affordable dental care to make comprehensive health care more accessible,” he said.
After some time, Moises’ journey would lead him from being Lead Dental Assistant to Dental Assistant Supervisor to Dental Manager to eventually Health Center Manager II. He believes this is a powerful example of how TrueCare supports career advancement.
“TrueCare allowed me to embrace their community goals and focus on the needs of people. It’s been amazing to be able to grow with the organization,” reflected Moises. “I think being able to grow with the organization while serving and elevating my community is something that a lot of other medical clinic manager jobs don’t offer,” he said.
He believes his story highlights not only his dedication to the profession but also TrueCare’s commitment to fostering long-term career development.

How Does TrueCare Support Career Growth and Education?
One of the key factors in Moises’s growth at TrueCare is the organization’s focus on professional development and education.
“When I started here, I didn’t know specifically that I wanted to continue to advance, and what was really great about working here is that the organization allowed me to embrace what we were trying to accomplish in our community,” explained Moises. “And with that, I decided to go back to school and obtain a degree in public health,” he said.
While Moises had a strong foundation as a Registered Dental Assistant, TrueCare supported his ambition to expand his expertise, helping him earn his degree. This education enriched his ability to provide high-quality care and helped him transition into leadership positions at TrueCare.
“TrueCare has been incredibly supportive of my education and career goals,” Moises added. “The opportunity to learn and grow professionally has been a driving force for me here – they really value and invest in you as a person,” he said.

Why Are You So Committed to Community Health?
Moises’s passion for healthcare isn’t just professional; it’s deeply personal. Growing up in the community he now serves, Moises understands the challenges and needs of his neighbors, making his work at TrueCare even more meaningful.
“This commitment to community health is what has really made me love working at TrueCare,” said Moises. “TrueCare’s commitment to holistic care and community engagement aligns with my personal values – I just love making a difference in people’s lives. For example, my focus now is to really embrace our community. Ramona is very tight-knit. This gives us the opportunity to really get to know patients and help them see the vision of what we are trying to accomplish for them,” he said.
His dedication to providing accessible, comprehensive care is rooted in his belief that healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.
“My commitment to community health is personal. I’ve seen firsthand how access to quality care can transform lives,” said Moises. “That’s why I work so hard to ensure TrueCare remains a resource for everyone, no matter their background. It’s really amazing to work at a community health center that empowers you to go above and beyond what we think health care traditionally is, which is an ideal that made me so committed to community health in the first place,” he added.
For Moises, TrueCare’s mission of holistic and preventative care aligns perfectly with his values and his desire to make a lasting impact.

What’s the Team Culture Like at TrueCare’s Ramona Health Center?
The team at TrueCare’s Ramona Health Center is known for its close-knit, supportive atmosphere. Moises works hard to cultivate an environment where everyone feels valued and encouraged, knowing that collaboration is key to providing the best care.
Moises believes that something really special about the team culture at TrueCare is the collaborative nature that allows TrueCare to provide holistic care.
“What I really enjoy about my role as a health center manager is that I can build on what I started with in dental and really try to help patients,” he explained. “Our oral health is just as important as our physical health, and there are other conditions that can be exacerbated from either side. So what I enjoy most is being able to provide that care and foster that cross-collaboration. I also really enjoy the fact that we provide so many different services, from dental to medical to behavioral health and chiropractic services, and they all work in harmony. It enables us to provide a higher level of care to the community,” he added.
However, he says the team itself is also a bright spot of working at TrueCare. Moises describes his team as more than just colleagues; they’re a family.
“We’ve created a fun, welcoming environment in Ramona, and a lot of our team members grew up here in Ramona,” Moises said. “It’s not just about getting the job done. It’s about supporting each other and creating a positive atmosphere that makes patients feel comfortable and cared for – from the very first day of onboarding, we make sure everyone feels welcomed and that everybody gets along,” he elaborated.
This strong team culture fosters both personal and professional satisfaction for the staff, who all work towards the same community-centered goals. Ultimately, though, Moises has embraced his role as the facilitator for this teamwork.
“We have different metrics and measures that we’re trying to accomplish in our community, and my role as a health center manager is to work with my team to better our community’s health,” Moises explained. “Being able to provide and foster that with my team is really fulfilling for me, and I think it makes it more fulfilling for everyone else, too,” he said.

What Makes an Ideal Candidate for a Role at TrueCare?
TrueCare values individuals who are not only skilled in their field but who also bring a passion for patient care and community health. Moises says the ideal candidate possesses a welcoming attitude and the ability to work well with others.
“We look for people who are passionate about health care and are committed to being part of something bigger than themselves,” Moises said. “Teamwork is a big part of our success, so we need people who are collaborative and ready to support each other,” he added.
Just as importantly, Moises says that a dedication to TrueCare’s mission is one of the most important defining characteristics of an ideal candidate.
“We’re all really passionate about the work we do and are committed to providing the best quality care for our patients and community,” said Moises. “It’s really important to have that attitude – I know that where I grew up, we didn’t have a community health center. I was fortunate enough to have health insurance, but I know that’s not always the case for people. So just having this perspective and a passion for combining community health with population health is really important for candidates – we’re very mission-driven,” he added.
How Does TrueCare Support Work-Life Balance?
At TrueCare, work-life balance is not just a benefit; it’s an essential part of the organization’s culture. Moises speaks highly of how TrueCare ensures its employees maintain a healthy balance between their professional and personal lives.
“TrueCare understands the importance of balance. Leadership is always here to support us in our roles and make sure we have the time we need to take care of ourselves and recharge,” Moises said. “Being able to live our best lives outside of work allows us to really do our best work when we’re on the clock, and leadership understands that,” he explained.
Moises believes that TrueCare’s emphasis on work-life balance helps employees remain engaged and energized, ensuring that the care they provide is always of the highest quality.
