When most people think about health care careers, they picture doctors, nurses, Medical Assistants, etc. They rarely think about the person who answers the phone to help them set up an appointment. Yet for many patients, that first conversation sets the tone for their entire health care experience.
Ivette Haro understands just how important those moments can be. After starting at TrueCare as a Call Center Representative more than a decade ago, she was promoted to Call Center Manager. Her story shows that career growth stems from learning from great leaders, building lasting relationships, and making a difference for every patient she speaks to.
How Ivette Built Her Career at TrueCare
Ivette joined TrueCare nearly 11 years ago as a Call Center Representative, helping patients schedule appointments and connect with the care they need. After two years, she accepted an opportunity in another department as a Patient Service Advocate before moving into a supervisor role.
A few years later, an opportunity brought her back to the Patient Call Center, this time as Call Center Supervisor. Looking back, Ivette says, “It felt like a full circle moment,” she said.
Because she’s experienced the role from every level, Ivette understands both the challenges her team faces and the impact they have on every patient’s experience. That firsthand perspective shapes the way she leads today, helping her support employees while keeping the organization’s mission at the center of her team’s work.
How Does TrueCare Support Career Growth?
For Ivette, professional growth started with the leaders who believed in her potential. She credits the leaders who encouraged her and showed her what supportive leadership looks like. For professionals interested in patient call center careers, Ivette’s experience shows how mentorship can open the door to new opportunities.
“I’ve had the privilege of having great leaders here, and they lead by example. That makes me want to do the same,” she said. Watching those leaders invest in their teams inspired Ivette to pursue leadership opportunities of her own. Today, she strives to create that same supportive environment by mentoring and empowering every member of her team.
A Family-Like Culture Has Kept Ivette at TrueCare for More Than a Decade
Ask Ivette what has kept her at TrueCare for more than a decade, and she’ll tell you about how the organization’s culture has made all the difference. “It’s like a family here. As with most jobs, you spend more time at work than you do at home, so it’s very important that you enjoy your team,” she said.
That sense of connection extends throughout the organization. Whether it’s holiday potlucks, Halloween costume contests, or simply supporting one another throughout the workday, employees celebrate successes together while staying focused on delivering exceptional patient care. Ivette says leaders across the organization often describe TrueCare as a family, reinforcing a culture where employees genuinely care about one another.
How Do Support Teams Make a Difference in Health Care?
The patient experience begins the moment a call center representative answers their call, long before they walk through the doors of a TrueCare health center. Ivette says she didn’t fully appreciate the importance of that first interaction until she began working behind the scenes. Because of that perspective, Ivette understands how support team members play an essential role in helping patients navigate their health care journey, even if they never meet face to face. As she puts it, “You still impact the patient’s life by speaking to them and helping them.” Every conversation is an opportunity to reassure patients, answer their questions, and help them access the care they need with confidence.
Build Your Career at TrueCare
Ivette’s journey shows that meaningful health care careers can begin in unexpected places. Whether you’re answering a patient’s questions, supporting your teammates, or growing into a leadership position, every role at TrueCare is an opportunity to make a lasting impact for the community.
