Is There Professional Growth and Innovation at TrueCare?
At TrueCare, growth is built into the culture. Providers are given the freedom to explore new ideas, learn from diverse experiences, and develop their skills with real support behind them. This commitment to professional development and mentorship is one of the biggest reasons providers say TrueCare feels different from other health care settings.

What Kind of Professional Development and Mentorship Opportunities Are Available for Providers?
TrueCare leadership encourages creative thinking and problem-solving. Dr. Rachel Lum Ho said she feels like they give her a lot of autonomy and influence.
“It’s pretty much the opposite of a resistance to change. They encourage new ideas. My department is constantly looking for ways to improve things or add things to our services. That’s the best thing you can do for professional development,” explained Dr. Lum Ho.
Dr. Alice Ma noted that the diverse patient population is also excellent for growth.
“Because it’s such a diverse population, you really get a diverse group of treatment needs that come in every day. It could be as simple as a hygiene visit or something as complicated as a full mouth rehabilitation, so you get a healthy variety of all the procedures you would want to practice. You have the autonomy to practice, which is key to growing your skills. I can say I’m constantly learning, and it’s invigorating,” said Dr. Ma.
Dr. Maria Sebiane said if you are a professional who enjoys teaching, TrueCare is a “wonderful place to be able to do that,” as they train MA externs, PA and nurse practitioner students, and even residents, further showcasing the culture of professional development.

How Are Providers Empowered to Develop and Lead New Programs and Initiatives?
TrueCare actively encourages providers to develop and lead new programs. Dr. Sebiane, for example, shared her experience.
“One of the things I love most about working here is that, throughout my professional career with this organization, every time we bumped into a need or something that our patients were not receiving, I’ve been afforded the opportunity to get grants to work with HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) to really stay on the cutting edge. So, working in this practice has really expanded the limits of what I originally envisioned my career would look like or what I could even do in a private office, because I don’t just have the resources within my own internal group. I have the resources of the entire organization behind me,” said Dr. Sebiane.
Dr. Lum Ho, on the other hand, explained that she was part of a pilot program for weight management for adolescents.
“There are a lot of different pilot programs we’re running that touch on all facets of health care, and they’ve been very intentional about empowering us as clinicians to be able to come up with a new workflow to figure out how it implements within our team, letting us present to the rest of the division. If we have an idea that we pilot in San Marcos, can we apply this to our whole division at all the different sites? That’s what it’s always about, so in my three years, there have been so many new programs we’ve started in San Marcos that have been adopted widely. It creates a culture of innovation,” said Dr. Lum Ho.

Are TrueCare Community Health Centers Modern and State-of-the-Art?
At TrueCare, our commitment to providing top-quality health care extends to every aspect of our practice, including our facilities and technology. Many team members say getting the chance to work with cutting-edge technology is key to professional growth.
Our new Vista Way Dental Clinic is a prime example of this commitment, offering providers and patients a state-of-the-art environment. For Dr. David Vasquez, a dentist at TrueCare, the opportunity to work in the new facility was a major draw.
“I feel so lucky to be a part of this new office in Vista Way. It just feels awesome. It makes the work more fulfilling and impactful because having modern equipment is essential to providing the best care possible. All patients deserve the best, and with TrueCare having this new facility, I feel like we’re providing that service,” said Dr. Vasquez.
Dr. Vasquez also emphasized that a commitment to modern technology is a commitment to his professional development in a field that’s constantly evolving.
“Dentistry in general is all about innovation and growth. It’s about trying new things and keeping up with technology. So, again, TrueCare is following in those footsteps and is trying to have the best in the most current equipment and technology,” said Dr. Vasquez.
