Alejandra’s journey to this distinguished Latino leader honor comes on the heels of a series of remarkable achievements. Her dedication to making a difference in the lives of San Diego and Riverside County residents is evident in her passion for her work.
Alejandra has been a dedicated member of the TrueCare team since 2018. She plays a pivotal role in fostering collaboration between TrueCare and community organizations. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in identifying community needs, breaking down barriers, and addressing gaps in community programming. Her efforts ensure residents of our beautiful counties receive the best possible health care services and access to programs that address whole-person care.
One of Alejandra’s notable accomplishments is her expansion of TrueCare’s Puzzling Minds Program. Under Alejandra’s leadership, the program has expanded to new schools and now includes a broader range of activities, workshops, school-wide events, and a referral system for students in need of behavioral health services.
Additionally, Alejandra manages TrueCare’s youth advocacy program. This program focuses on youth leadership development through the implementation of substance use disorder advocacy projects with students at high schools. A youth advocates group has been running steadily at Perris High School and in 2023, Alejandra is leading the program’s expansion to San Marcos, further solidifying her dedication to empowering the youth of our region.
Alejandra was also recently nominated at the 2023 RISE San Diego ILIA Awards. The awards honor the work of individuals and organizations throughout San Diego County dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Alejandra was nominated in the category of Community Change Agent, highlighting her efforts to make real, sustainable, and systemic change through the creation of innovative programs.
