Fundraising event focused on breaking down barriers to healthcare for diverse communities and those most in need in North San Diego and South Riverside Counties
San Marcos, Calif., April 19, 2022 – Better patient access to healthcare services and programs in North San Diego and South Riverside Counties was emphatically supported by over 300 attendees at TrueCare’s “Magical Masquerade” Grand Gala”, which raised nearly $300,000.
Proceeds are going specifically towards expanding TrueCare’s mobile healthcare units, telehealth services and transportation assistance that bring quality, affordable healthcare to local diverse communities and those most in need.
TrueCare serves the families of the region through medical services and programs that benefit the whole person, focusing on underserved populations. With the money contributed by the generous sponsors and donors at the gala, TrueCare can impact more than 60K lives by providing:
- An additional 3,500 visits to rural residents with the TrueCare mobile unit
- More than 6,500 Uber Health rides to and from patients’ homes to their provider
- Over 85,000 virtual health consultations
San Marcos City Council Member, Maria Nunez, who attended the gala, appreciates the value that a community health center like TrueCare brings to her community. “As a representative of the City of San Marcos and North San Diego County, I wholeheartedly support TrueCare’s mission of providing culturally sensitive and comprehensive healthcare for our most vulnerable and economically disadvantaged residents. I am honored to work alongside the TrueCare team to improve the lives of people who are underserved and ensure they receive the quality healthcare that everyone deserves.”
TrueCare has helped several generations of families with access to quality healthcare. Some of those multi-generational patients attended the gala as well, including Adrian Montes. “As a child, I was suffering from fevers and rashes and my family couldn’t afford basic healthcare. Dr. Curley diagnosed me with a rare disease and set me on a healthier path for managing it. Thanks to TrueCare, I’m still alive.” According to Montes, his parents are TrueCare patients as well as his daughter, who is a patient of TrueCare pediatrician Dr. Edward Curley, because of the great care he received.
In addition to the proceeds from the gala, The Conrad Prebys Foundation is matching all contributions to TrueCare’s mobile units, up to $200,000 for the next two years. Supporters of healthcare for all can still double their impact by giving online at truecare.org/giving. For more information, visit truecare.org/gala or contact anthony.white@truecare.org.
