Ana Yela Castillo, LMFT
Wellness Service:
I am honored to be part of the TrueCare team of providers in our community. As a therapist, I am committed to bridging my clinical training and education with our patient’s cultural upbringing, their innate wisdom, as well as lived experience. I enjoy connecting and supporting our patients through the therapeutic process in gaining a deeper understanding of themselves, while implementing problem solving skills, and moving towards personal goals. I consider myself very fortunate to be in this role because I get to witness the resilience of our patients who aspire to re-engage with their mental and emotional health and well-being.
I came into the field of mental health because of the love that I have for community well-being. Early in my career I worked with youth and their families towards substance abuse and violence prevention, as well as promoting and practicing the healing arts and leadership development through theater, media arts, and muralism. In this experience I gained the trust of youth and community members and was able to learn about personal hardships and intergenerational trauma that was being experienced. I wanted to empower and see people grow into healthy lives and relationships and sought an education towards a dual master’s degree as a Marital and Family Therapist and Clinical Art Therapist. I am motivated by seeing individuals and families engage in a journey towards health, healing, and empowerment because we deserve to move away from modes of survival and into experiences of reflection, safety, acceptance, love, trust, creativity, and joy.
