Como costarricense estadounidense de primera generaci\u00f3n, soy personalmente consciente de la importancia que juega la sensibilidad cultural en la prestaci\u00f3n de atenci\u00f3n de calidad al paciente. Puedo recordar v\u00edvidamente c\u00f3mo mis padres y hermanos inmigrantes no recibieron atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica de calidad consistente. Este desequilibrio se convirti\u00f3 en el \u00edmpetu que aliment\u00f3 mi deseo de convertirme en el m\u00e9dico biling\u00fce y bicultural que soy hoy. La educaci\u00f3n del paciente tambi\u00e9n es un componente extremadamente importante para proporcionar atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica de calidad. Como pediatra debo comunicarme en un idioma y estilizar a mis pacientes y sus padres pueden entender. Mi consultorio m\u00e9dico atiende a pacientes desde el nacimiento hasta los 21 a\u00f1os de edad. Cuando no estoy trabajando, disfruto pasar tiempo con mi esposo y cuatro generaciones de mi incre\u00edble familia extendida.
